A
search team
was formed
consisting of two elders (Steve Buchanan, search team
leader, and Mike Thompson), two staff members (Doug Boyd
and Joel Van Ginkel) and three others from our
congregation (Suzanne Calhoun, Mark O'Connor and Andie
Williams). The
search team meets weekly to work through
the steps involved in calling our Senior Pastor. |

Church / Pastor Profile |

This stage
involved gathering information about
our church to pass
on to the candidate. It also involved determining
what we want and need in a
pastor. The search team
along with the board of elders formalized a ministry
profile that clarified the qualities needed to lead our
congregation. |

Gather
Applicants |

| |
This will
involve creating a web-based application process on our
church website, where applicants can view information
about our church and the position, as well as
submit a resume. Advertising for the position
will involve using internet based ministry resource
sites such as Church-Staffing.com, posting on the CB
website and social networking. Through these
search avenues, the team will collect a "basket" of
possible candidates that fit our profile and begin
reviewing resumes.

This process
will entail narrowing applicants down to a manageable
number. From this "basket" of applicants, the
search team will begin gathering more detailed
information on each applicant through questionnaires,
sermon samples, interviews and reference checks by the
search team along with the board of elders. |

Candidate Weekend |
|
| |
Top candidates
will be invited, along with their spouse to a
face-to-face interview with the search team, staff and
elders, that will give them an opportunity to see MHC
and the surrounding community. A second weekend
will then be scheduled with our TOP candidate. The
candidate will preach on Sunday morning and be available
to meet with various leaders and ministries. A
special congregational meeting will be scheduled
following the visit and members will vote to accept the
candidate. |

approval, the position will be formally offered. |

Welcome |
|
| |
The seventh
and final stage is to welcome our new Senior Pastor.
A special service will be scheduled and a celebration
planned. |
